the challenge

Climate Change is a collective issue

So in 2017, a collection of colleagues and I partnered to host almost 100 climate entrepreneurs, business, and institutional partners at the World Economic Forum (WEF) HQ in the SF Presidio for a day of trust building and problem solving.

After pleasantries, the group would segment into smaller eponymous "Brain Trusts". The entrepreneurs would present their business and sustainability challenges to a cohort of 6–10 advisers;

Heading into the event, I was experiencing imposter syndrome on full blast.

I have no formal environmental science education besides that one semester in middle school (Thanks Mr. Burke)

But as a former educator, I do have plenty of experience guiding and facilitating Design Thinking sessions.

So my guiding light was to lead with questions, a Beginner's Mind, and full acknowledgement of my lack of domain expertise

The results were a number of new ventures, capital market entries, deal flow, and my FAVORITE, lightbulb moments.
